Generally, compressor is classified as "Blower" or "Compressor" by pressure ratio and size of pressure increase. Also compressor can be classified by difference of working principle; turbo type which increase flow speed of gas and compression by function of rotating wing and Volume type which reduce volume of gas inside of fixed volume or increase pressure by using back pressure.
Please refer to the table below for the type of each compressor and their function.

Rotating Type | It’s called “Blower” or “Compressor” which pressurize gas by rotation of rotor inside of casing (cylinder). |
---|---|
Reciprocating Type | It’s called “Compressor” which increase the pressurize gas by squeezing volume by piston which reciprocate inside of cylinder. |
Reciprocating compressor can be classified as follows by pressure, usage and configuration.
